With the wonderful experiences of the successful conceptualization, planning and implementation of an Integrated Village Development Project at Vavarath, Ahmednagar District, under the aegis of the Vincentian Mission Service Society; a new project is envisaged to be realized at Village Narayangawan, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra; for the rehabilitation of the mentally challenged, mental patients, street children, beggars and discarded, wandering destitute and aged people.

The new project DAYASAGAR will be under the aegis of the Morning Star Charitable Trust with its registered office at De Paul Centre, Vavarath.

DAYA SAGAR is envisaged to be an Integrated Rehabilitation Complex owned and managed by Morning Star Charitable Trust with a centralized kitchen and Administrative block. It is envisaged to be in a sprawling 14.85 acre cascading plot of land on the banks of the Kukady Irrigation Project Dam. The plot is ideally located between the Industrial areas of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation at Ranjangaon and Supa.

KEY SALIENT FEATURES OF THE ENVISAGED REHABILITATION CENTER

  1. Separate homes for accommodating different categories of inmates
  2. The inmates will be selected assessing the genuineness of the case irrespective of caste, creed, religion, color, sex, etc. purely on humanitarian grounds
  3. There shall be a multipurpose hall for common gatherings that can accommodate all the inmates, staff & their family members, and even a visiting group of about 50 people
  4. There shall be a full time qualified and experienced councilor in the campus at the service of the inmates. He will also be available to guide the interested residing volunteers in the campus, providing counseling, animation, guidance and other services.
  5. There shall be a designated track for Nature Walk in the campus for the rejuvenating the well being of the inmates and visitors.
  6. There shall be a gymnasium with sufficient equipments for maintaining health, body building and physical exercise.
  7. There shall be facility for practicing Yoga regularly under the guidance of a trained instructor for acquiring and maintaining of mental equilibrium and physical well being of the inmates.
  8. The Administrative office and kitchen will be centralized and centrally located to have easy access from all homes. The Kitchen will be mostly working on solar energy with solar parabolic cooker, solar lighting system, solar motor, solar pumps etc.
  9. The Total campus of Dayasagar will have an ECO-FRIENDLY and ORGANIC touch with abundant plantations, fruit trees, horticultural farm, artificial forest, medicinal plants, flower garden, solar lighting system, wind energy, bio gas production unit using bio-degradable waste, water recycling, waste water management, organic farming, lift irrigation from pond in the 10cent plot across the canal with solar pump, drip irrigation system, sprinkler irrigation system, Solar parabolic cooking, solar pump sets, Integrated eco-friendly recycling program, wormy culture, poultry, piggery, dairy farm, rabbits, fish culture, silkworm culture stall fed goatery, etc.
  10. In order to organically produce necessary food grain, vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs, fish etc. an agricultural farm will be developed and maintained in a plot – adjacent or near bye – along with a dairy farm with buffalos, different breeds of cows, different breeds of goats, organic farming of fodder grass, fields, plantations, poly house, greenhouse, drip irrigation, sprinklers, biogas plant etc.
  11. To spend leisurely time and amusement of the inmates and the visitors a flower garden will be maintained in the campus. This would also include - Birds and animals like chicken, ducks, flying ducks, doves, pigeons, swans, guinea fowls, love birds, emu, ostridges, rabbit, guinea pigs, goats, sheep, cows, dogs, cats etc. will be kept in the campus
  12. It is envisaged to accommodate 25 female and 25 male inmates of each said categories aggregating the number of inmates to 250 in the campus
  13. Trained and experienced staff will be employed to take care of the inmates in each category
  14. Committed services of the Catholic nuns will be employed for continuous, efficient nursing and palliative care of the inmates
  15. Sufficient medical care will be given to the inmates by regular nursing care by committed, trained and experienced nurses. Periodical visits of by qualified Doctors from the neighboring towns will be arranged. Hospitalization will also be arranged, as and when necessary.
